Kannauj’s natural attars are pure, alcohol-free perfumes created using an ancient hydro-distillation method (deg-bhapka) in copper stills, infusing botanicals like rose, jasmine, and vetiver into a sandalwood base, resulting in complex, long-lasting scents like the famous Mitti Attar (scent of rain-soaked earth) and spicy Shamama, representing India’s rich perfumery heritage.
